I love how this phrase:
I've lived in Texas my entire life. I'd opine that it used to be the south, but no longer is (the state as a whole; obviously there are some places, especially in east Texas, that would still be considered "the south").
If Texas as a state really is part of the south, then Austin is definitely an outlier and I guess would indeed be home to the "Hippie U of the South". Whatever tf that means haha

The correct terminology is "The People's Republic of Austin.. with a bunch of hairy-legged women and liberal fruitcakes"
