The SEC has a shot at the end of July to really make a statement about how they will get football done this Fall.

I hope they aren’t greedy and throw out intentions of playing 10 games (even just in conference) and even a final non con.

Instead I’d rather see them come out and say they will play conference only and in fact division only. Six games. Start in mid-September and play every other week. And then play the SEC championship.

Shooting for six games with cushion in between and playing the conference championship seems a lot more doable. And by committing to that in the Fall they allow teams and admins to stop planning for contingencies and wasting time trying to keep non con games.

Pushing to the Spring seems like a lose/lose situation. Team makeup will change dramatically, you are fighting for admin time with Spring sports, etc, etc.

I think of the SEC does it right they can be the leader in getting this done instead of following along and continuing to kick the can down the road.

What say you?

They will probably announce a conference +1 schedule most likely.

Then we’ll see how August goes to determine if the schedule will be played or not.

LSU will play anyone, anywhere, at any time.

We don’t back down from anybody.

I guessing September cancelled 8 game conference only in Oct/Nov, if things are as bad or worse in September, season done.

Sankey on Spring football...
quote:

“Here’s the problem I see with the spring right now,” Sankey told College Football Live. “We’ve kept that on the list of alternatives, but I’ve not had the explanation of how we’ll be assured some reality, come spring, that will be better than the fall.”

“In fact,” Sankey continued, “as you look at cold and flu season which people have talked about, the deeper you go, the more problematic that can be. And we’re all in this world of unpredictability, we are building the bridge as we cross the river, and writing the instructional manual as we do so.”

Personally, I think a ten game conference only schedule makes the most sense. It does away with the “rent a win” games, and it certainly makes every game interesting. Sure, a few marquee matchups will be lost, but atleast there would be a semblance of interest in every matchup played.

My only argument is if you have an odd # of conf. games...WHICH team(s) get that extra H game?

I say play your 6 division members, 2 c/d teams + 1 P5 team (which 4 already have annually).
