Not sure I really buy this. Our recruiting in Texas is the same as it was before 2012 (mediocre). And we just signed more 4 stars in 2019 than we ever have.

There was a thread on the rant a few weeks ago and one of the subjects brought up was how many 4* and 5* players Oregon gets from California. Their in-state talent isn't very good just like ours, but if we could recruit Texas like they have California lately we'd be so much better. USC, UCLA, Stanford and Cal are pretty comparable to Texas, A&M, TCU and Texas Tech.

I guess one major difference is the only other P5 programs that border California are Oregon State, Arizona and Arizona State while we have to recruit against OU, LSU and Oklahoma State for east Texas recruits. Much harder to recruit against the latter. And Texas also has Baylor while the next best program from California would probably be Fresno State.

Depends on which expansion, imo. If he's talking about '92, then I agree. But if he's talking '12, then I disagree. Despite our awful record over the last 8 years, we haven't been recruiting worse. But many other SEC teams have been recruiting better during this span.
