Seems it is the reverse. At LSU there is a higher percentage of wealthier fans in the seats now than in my childhood (1960s). Attending LSU Football is an expensive endeavor these days.

Ok but this year is not last year. The past two months have changed a lot of peoples' minds on a lot of things. And we ain't done, yet.
Not to make this political, but times are a changing. Everyone is going to have to pick a side on our current path. I love BAMA football, attended my first game before I could walk, while my parents were students. But, I have other interests that can fill the void. Besides, bass and deer aren't political, racist, or attacking nor talk back. :)

FIFY.
It's not expensive to attend at all.
I can walk right up to Tiger Stadium and find a good "Lower Bowl" seat for way under "Face" to every game on the schedule. (Except for Alabama every other year)
There are some games that you can get tickets for 5 bucks or have them thrown at you for free.
I gave up my ST's many years ago and have never regretted that decision.
"Been There-Done That" and definitely do not need to be in that arena for every home game currently........
