The offense might depend on how good is the defense. If your defense can't consistently stop the other team from moving the ball and scoring a lot of points then a ball control run first offense probably won't win it all these days.
eta: Confident in Jones but if Bryce Young is good as advertised, then I won't be surprised if he's the starter by year's end

Which is why Alabama changed in the first place.
These modern offenses are nearly impossible to completely shut down.
Alabama isn't going back to ground and pound any time soon.
