If Alex Collins didn't come then Petrino would get another good running that would be close to his equal. Remember he recruited Davis and Williams.

Our defense wasn't good but still better than Bert's last two years. That offense was explosive enough that they could outlast most defenses. So the defense was tasked with contain and that is what they did.

I will list three games that should be wins Toledo, Texas Tech and Mississippi State. The state loss cost us a sugar Bowl bid. Bert and some players complained a bout playing in Little Rock but yet lost to a rent a win in Toledo. I went to the Texas Tech game and Brandon Allen played scared and short handed his passes. Thus our offense stalled and we lost by 11. That was still a 10 win plus team.

We definitely should have won that one but I wouldn’t necessarily call that Toledo team a rent a win. They were 10 points away from going 13-0 that year, beat two P5 teams and a ranked Temple team in the bowl game coached by Matt Rhule.
