He was handed bigger than a shite sandwich and all things considered he did a great job. His first year he could only sign 14 scholarship players..
But he did manage to sign a great deal of the 2009 NC squad.. Most of the OL, Arenas, Upchurch, McElroy..etc etc.
Did Mike deserve to keep the job? NO! He was never going to get us to the promised land again. But he shouldn't be slammed like many Alabama fans choose to do..
If he ever comes back to Tuscaloosa and I'm in the Stadium..he gets a standing O from me.
He's one of ours and did the best he could do..as a player and our Coach.
Nothing but respect from me

He shouldn’t be slammed but I don’t begrudge anyone who might because of the way his dad continually melted down towards us following the dismissal. Sure Mike isn’t his dad but he could’ve had some dignity and told his dad to let it go.

Always liked Don Shula and his family. He was all class as was his son Mike.
Things didn't work out here for Mike and things turned sour between Alabama and the Shulas. Unfortunately.
But would always be grateful to Mike to have taken the job when no body wanted it. Wish he would re-establish his relationship with Bama in some capacity. He served the University well and to the best of his abilities.
Rest In Peace Don Shula.
