This will be about exposure i.e.TV ratings. Bama vs creampuff won't get you paid except chump change in Alabama. LSU vs Texas with a national TV audience will. The shoe companies will be unleaded.

Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Gatorade, Powerade, Muscle Milk, etc are the real game changers here. They’ll be the ones signing high profile high school kids because they have the clout and the resources to take those risks.
On a local level, I think boosters will change things with the 3rd year kid who is considering going pro to make money for his family. At that point, you’re making a relatively risk free investment into a proven commodity to directly aid the program. Much higher chance of ROI in that case
