TL/DR Sounds good until you run out of other people’s money...

Good luck getting an advocate for socialism that actually understands what it is.

Sugar coated,, as opposed to communism where the state owns all business, with socialism the individual still owns property but the state owns and controls resources, manufacturing, and other sectors of the economy with the goal of more equally distributing the productivity of the nation among all citizens.

In short, the govt owns the oil wells and proceeds, you may be a doctor, but the government is your sole payer and fixes pricing, if you make money...the govt takes a bunch of it for the common good. Likewise they assume control of any industry they see fit to better distribute the proceeds to all citizens. They say there are still democratic elections as well.

In reality, govt always expands upon their power and controls who has power and wealth. Once these people get control...they expand their power and democratic elections are a joke. They assume control of more and more until they implode. There are countless examples where this has happened. See Venezuela.

In Europe the countries touted as examples of successful democratic socialist countries aren’t socialist at all. They’re free market countries that have managed to fund healthcare and eduction through heavy taxes on a small, homogenous hard working population that all contributed to the “cause”. As their populations have grown with less productive members of society they’ve backed off these policies as they frankly don’t work. Communists solve this problem with work camps and forced labor...socialists slowly move toward this as well. They also block immigration as they can’t afford to provide services to non workers. It’s a tenant of socialism to control borders...which is interesting given the crew that is pushin for it now.
