As long as the current rules apply to recruiting, none of them will.

However, everything eventually changes and college football will be full of them in the coming years. I can't say none of them will ever win a title, since things won't be as they are today, in 20 years.

At the rate we're going, I don't see any of the aforementioned teams winning a title 20 years from now...because I'm legitimately concerned about football even being relevant in 20 years. I certainly don't want to see it, but many people do, and if kids aren't playing the game, then there will be no grown men to play it later on.

Also, to the OP'er: You need to add the Aggots to your list.

Or is that a separate list where we ask, "Who's more likely to make it to Atlanta"?

Or the other list, "Who's the sleepiest sleeping giant"?

Not only will none of those schools win a CFP Championship, none will ever make the CFP

Ever

Out of those Schools Mizzou has the best shot, don't know why, but they do

Not really. Kentucky is a blue blood basketball schools. It would take a lot of money and resources to get UK in the top 5 in football. Y’all can regularly go to bowl games. Just don’t see y’all making the CFP

They all have potential except Vandy and given they hire the right coach. That is all it takes is the right hire.

The reason I excluded Vandy is they still want to known as an academic school first. But they have higher expectations in football because of better results in the last 10 years. Going 5-7 or 6-6 is much better than 2-10 each year.

The more success brings, the more fans go to the games and ticket sales or any other revenue will increase. This helps other sports that don't produce as much revenue. So even 6-6 football will still out sale any other sporting event because that is what the American citizen still favors.

So any power five team has potential, it is just depends on the expectations. If you want to be a loser, hire a loser. If you want to be a winner, hire a winner. It is not that complicated.

Everyone but Vandy and Arkansas. Arkansas' football program is dead and they play in the West, there's no chance.

Mizzou has been close
Scar has been close

The rest could maybe do it in the right season.

Mizzou missed their shot. They are nowhere close currently.

SC is in a very bad state right now. Will have to go through a coach transition before they have a shot.

Vanderbilt is lucky to get to a bowl most seasons.

The rest are a remote possibility, and the people saying otherwise are either:
a) fans of schools like TN, Florida, or Georgia that are in denial about the fact that they may not win another championship anytime soon.

b) fans of LSU that are insecure about the significant possibility of the 2019 season being a one-hit-wonder.

c) fans of Alabama that are getting nervous about their current championship drought signaling the end of their reign.

Miami, Notre Dame, and USC used to be considered championship-caliber schools. Look at them now. Things don't stay the same and the winners don't stay on top forever.

Now do playoffs where the champ has to do it on the field. Exclude Bama and LSU.

I think you have to at least include the BCS here, if you’re being honest.

SEC teams with a title since the start of the CFP (2014):
Alabama
LSU

SEC teams with a title since the start of the BCS (1998):
Alabama
LSU
Florida
Auburn
Tennessee

Interestingly, the list doesn’t change if you go back to the Bowl Coalition or Bowl Alliance.

To the OP’s question, only two of those teams have finished bowl-eligible for each of the past 4 seasons: Kentucky (4 straight bowl games) and Mississippi State (10 straight). Feels to me like those two are in the best position currently to make a run, despite some of the others being more historically successful programs.

Of that group, Arkansas.

I know they've been left for dead, but they're kinda Tennessee-like; they have a history and some potential with the right coach.

It isn't all ancient history, either. Petrino had them rolling. In 2011, I honestly think they were maybe the 3rd or 4th best team around, just happened to be in the same division as LSU and Alabama.

This isn't to say they're the closest of the group, but I think the program has the highest ceiling of the bunch.

How dare you!!!

More comparable to Ole Miss tbh. Both were very successful in the 60s and both have experienced moderate success, here and there, since.

Ole Miss has won one or two depending on who you ask. Doubt we ever win another in my lifetime
