Two good posts above by OldPete and 3down10.

On the same topic, the reality is that with this run we've been on under Saban, a dynasty by any metric, the Alabama fanbase has become uber spoiled, and respoiled at that, taking into account our long history with Bryant. A giant chunk of our fanbase has become incredibly entitled while not increasing its football IQ, which means that a crapload of Bama fans simply can't handle the fact that we lost 2 games (or even 1 for that matter), and MUST criticize that which they believe THEY are the experts on.

Now, of course, a fan sitting on his couch on Saturday won't jump to criticizing players and their performance unless its obvious and egregious, but they will JUMP to criticizing coaches, as they (the fan) think that they (the fan) could coach better, as coaching is just calling plays, like what they are doing (or could do) from their couch. In reality, coaching is multiple orders of magnitude more difficult and more complicated than calling plays from a couch, but they won't believe it.

And so these poorly-informed football fans fall in love with crucifying coaches and fall in love with the notion that they know better. I mean, our recent iffy at times defensive performance couldn't possibly have been related to obvious personnel issues, because we're BAMA, right? It must be the newcomer DC who I'm smarter than, right? And our defense couldn't possibly have actually been a top-5 defense - the SP+ is full of shite (this year only) - as our defense was clearly a bloody pagan baby sacrifice for the entirety of the year, right? I saw it and we lost and I was mad, so it has to be a coach's fault! ...because I, Joe Bamafan, could do it better. Obviously.

My advice to anyone reading this: when the actual downfall of Alabama really happens some year in the future, whether under Saban or much more likely after, like maybe we go 8-5...

...get off the Alabama internet completely. It will be a festering cesspool of partially-uninformed anger the likes of which have never been seen. Websites like this will become unusable for many fans. It will be hell when it comes. And one day, it will.

And losing 2 games in 2019 wasn't our downfall, nor was it adjacent to the neighborhood of being in the same galaxy as the downfall of Alabama football. But to listen to many Bama fans talk, Alabama went 2-11 in 2019, not 11-2, and Pete Golding sodomized their dog.
