I have no freaking clue why we chose ‘41 instead of ‘45 to stake our claim to. ‘45 we could at least make a decent argument for, although the Army team that year is generally considered one of the greatest teams of all time. ‘41 is inexcusably bad. With our history we leave out legitimate years to claim a year we finished 9-2? So stupid.
I don’t really care, though, and the only people who truly do are the ones who buy a new “Got ##?” shirt after each NC (or fans of other teams, as this thread shows). We have more than anyone else however you count them. Let fans of lesser programs squabble about exactly how far behind us they are. As the lead dog, we are the only one without someone else’s arse in our face.
