I’ll take that New Money slot all day. Let’s face it there are about 4-5 Blue Bloods( That have done anything recent)” and the others have done Jack shite in 20 years That’s Bama Ohio State Oklahoma and USC all the others like Notre Dame Michigan Nebraska , Texas Tennessee have done nothing.

New Money
LSU Georgia Clemson, Miami , Florida State Auburn Oregon Florida can be added to the list and rather that than be the old Blue Bloods hanging on the past successes.

Would you mind operationally defining each?
I’m genuinely curious.

Not sure i would put a New Money label on LSU. LSU has been very good for a very long time. Just not quite in the same company as Alabama, ND, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and a few others.

There needs to be a category that sits somewhere between new money and Blue Blood.

I'm not sure I would call LSU "New Money"...

2 of those 8 schools you listed have blue as a school color. Stop using this college basketball term to reference any team outside of college basketball. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

If you really wanna talk about New Money you have to go by the list of wealthiest athletic programs in the country who are not so-called "blue bloods."

Money (facilities and fan support translates to recruiting) is where it's at and if you've got the money and are endeavoring for success it'll happen eventually.

A&M probably leads that list but you've got several programs in the SEC and B1G who are making moves thanks to the big TV money and conference revenue.

Sustaining success is the hard part these days.

In everything in life there are three phases.

Growth, Maintenance and Decline. Maintaining growth is the most difficult thing to do in this universe and even tougher is maintenance once you've reached the pinnacle. Doesn't matter what you are talking about, life, business, sports, socioeconomics, physics .... it's all the same.

IDK, I think you can break it down into the following groups:

1) Elite/Blue Bloods: they are the cream of the crop. I put these at the top 8-10 teams all time.
2) Old Money: they've won championships historically and are still winning today, but not quite Elite.
3) New Money: a newer entrant to the discussion that's currently relevant but hasn't proven to have the staying power of Old Money or Elites.
4) Plebeians: everyone else.
