4 years, $92M with a 5th year option that could increase total to $100M. Braves went penny pinching to not match that.

Didn't say but an extra 1 year/$8M should absolutely not have been a deal breaker.

Can’t wait for the “meh” bat they end up overpaying for to replace him. So typical...

I will lose my shite if they mortgage the farm for fricking Kris Bryant. I'd be fine with Arenado.

Most likely it will be Austin Riley. Hopefully he can get it together.

Hope you guys enjoy Johan Camargo batting cleanup...smdh.

They better go get Arenado after this crap. How in the hell do you let Donaldson walk for $92M????

Snitker was just given a green light to bat Markakis cleanup for 162 this year. You know it's coming.

I don't know how I feel about it. In the myopic view of just a single season, Donaldson was probably my favorite player to watch play last year between his defense and his batting.

With that said I question the length of the deal over its price. Again, maybe Donaldson will continue to play at a high level until he's 38, maybe not.

I'm okay with forging Riley by fire.

If they wouldn’t match or best the Twins offer for JD, I have no confidence they will pay what they’ll probably have to for Arenado or Bryant.

Arenado alone would cost at minimum $70 million over 2 years. Trading for him makes no sense given they just let Donaldson walk. If Braves make a move, maybe an OF bat?

Who? Mitch Haniger? Seattle for some reason has no interest in moving him. Maybe call up the A's and see what it takes to get Matt Chapman? I don't know if AA would be able to stomach the prospect cost for him.

Riley is the guy! and I can tell you he has been working out in Dallas with Mike Brumley and is going to be just fine.

Ozuna on a short term deal would be my guess. Doesn’t block pache or waters.

Has he learned how to lay off a slider yet? He was a black hole in the lineup from mid June until the end of the season.

Brumley said when he was killing it he was staying back with his weight on his back foot and could see the pitches then when he started to slump he was leaning in and over the plate too much which brought him closer to the ball making it look like a strike when it was nose diving into the dirt. When he stays back he sees it better and knows to lay off. He still has to do it under the gun when it counts but I can assure you he feels real good about spring training! Seitzer wasn't much help for him, Camargo and Swanson and I have been told KS takes all the credit when things are good but when they are struggling he is no where to be found. They get more out of the hitting coach in Gwinnett.
