These kids just don't care about college football anymore.

At the least they have access to heavily discounted tickets, most aren't even motivated by that. Outside of the SEC it's far worse.

Universities don't care short of the fact that discounted/good seating is going to waste vs being sold at higher values. It's only going to get worse I'm afraid... won't matter though, the almighty dollar is still flowing in by way of media contracts.

I agree but it goes deeper. In the 90s, ticket prices made a steep climb. It essentially priced out the average family from being able to take their kids to the game every week. The audience matured and kids didn't grow up going to football games. They never formed the bond that we did.
