Muss subscribes to the current philosophy, which is also prevalent in the NBA, that offensive rebounds are unimportant. Yes you take them when you get them, but you are not sending 4 to crash the boards with the 5th player "back" at the free throw line. You are just begging for run outs to take place against you with the strategy LSU took last night.

This is why Arkansas doesn't get offensive rebounds, they are not emphasizing offensive rebound because the majority of the shots are are going to be 3s or long twos which lead to long rebounds, so you send the guards back after the shot and sacrifice rebounding opportunities in order to have an opportunity to set your defense.

This isn't going to change in the future, even when he does have "size" your going to see 4 guard line ups, the goal would to be increase your size of guards, in stead of 6' guards you want 6'6"ish guards. You trade speed and ball handling for strength and size at the 3/4 spot and play a guy who is more of a 4 who can handle at the 5 instead of a traditional back to the basket center.

Offensively Muss wants his team to also improv instead of relying on sets, improv being using basic offensive movements and rotations found in offenses like the Motion where screens take play away from the ball, options of the screens are available basically the defense will always give you an open shot, may not be the shot you want at the time but someone will be open.

Muss isn't that far removed from Nolan/Anderson in what the want their teams to do or how they want their rosters to look, the biggest difference is full court press vs half court defense. Mix of man and match up zone compared to man only.

If we had the Big O last night, LSU would have been blown out or would have had to quit crashing the offensive boards, baseball pass to streaking guard for the dunk, over and over and over. This is why you don't send 4-1/2 men to get an offensive rebound.
