UGA's guy.

For the better part of a decade between Bert and Chad, those idiots never had a real special teams coach... And guess what.. Our ST have been shite.
Pittman finally gets one.
Virtually every great coach, college and pro, puts a premium on special teams because of how it can affect a game.

Fountain has coached ST for the 10 years at either Auburn or Georgia. He definitely knows the SEC in and out, and is a very strong recruiter to boot. Great get by Pittman.
It's almost like Pittman's time with Bert was the best thing to happen to his career, in that he's basically gone and done the complete opposite. Hire good recruiters across the board, hire guys who know the SEC, hire a ST team coach, lean into spread/RPO offense, etc.

You know Pittman watched from afar after he left as the program totally crumbled around Bert. He was probably extremely hesitant to leave Arkansas but he knew the team was led by an incompetent drunk.
It also probably reinforced what Pitman alrwady knew - that he was the man keeping the program afloat with his recruiting and O-lines.
It's sweet revenge in a way, but you're right, he was given the blueprint two fold - this is what NOT to do by his Arkansas time and this is what to do, especially on the recruiting trail, y his time at UGA.
The question is, how come no other coach in the last 10 years could figure out that you needed both an incredible staff AND incredible recruiters.

Its not always just this easy though. Things have to fall into place for you too. For instance, although Pittman was able to "recruit" those guys here, he lucked out with both Odom and Briles as they were each let go at the end of the year opening the door for them to come here. He doesnt get either one of those guys if they arent fired.
Not saying CSP would have done bad otherwise, but sometimes its better to be lucky than good.
