He likes being cheered and he knows by attending sporting events in the south where his popularity is the highest, that'll happen.

He's now been to two Alabama games. This will be his second LSU game. Aside from Army/Navy, he's not going to games outside of the south because it would expose him to a non-friendly crowd (see attending the WS game in Washington where he promptly left after being booed).

On the surface, this makes sense.

Digging deeper, I’m guessing you lack the context that John Bel Edwards-Louisiana’s current Governor-is a liberal Democrat and has practiced with the team regularly, throwing passes, showing up on the road and on the sidelines of games, and going as far as being the first person to greet them on the tarmac after games on the road.

Hell he was on the front row of in NYC at the DAC for Burrow’s Heisman ceremony. He sat next to Orgeron. Who has appeared at campaign stops for him. Who has openly supported his runs for Governor. Time and again.

Orgeron has all but come out and said he’s a Democrat.

So why in the world would a POTUS motivated by id-fueled machinations like the ones you ascribe to him attend games, make phone calls to and plan to attend National Championship Games involving a team with a Head Coach who openly supports candidates that represent ideological and philosophical differences from a political perspective?

It doesn’t make sense using your lens of opinion.

Trump heard there was a swamp in Louisiana that needed draining.
