I'd be surprised if this is what Venables runs against LSU. Against Bama last year, they used a coverage they hadn't used all season and it confused us; wondering if they'll try something similar. But no one has been able to shake Burrow all season long so it won't be easy to do...

I think they should spy Burrow with Simmons , rush 4 or 5 , play a Nickel or Dime zone with a minimum of 3 CB's .

Playing man with those three receivers and Moss isn't a good idea , but rushing three and dropping 8 won't work I don't think , because of Burrow's running ability even with Simmons spying.

spy Burrow with Simmons
Can they afford to consistently do that with him? All I have heard is that he is their playmaker. Would think he would have to take on more responsibilities than that. Covering CEH and possibly Moss as well.

Covering Chase, Jefferson, Marshall, Moss and CEH with 6 defenders while only rushing 4?

Good luck with that.

Taking your best defensive player out the game? Great thinking.

Let me get this straight....you're suggesting they spy burrow with Simmons, rush 4 or 5, and leave only 5 or 6 dbs to cover 5 targets?

Because nobody has thought of doing that before.

UGA (with arguably the best run defense in the nation) tried a lot of that.

Here are some examples:

1st Quarter results of putting a spy on Burrow:

- Clyde Edwards-Helaire run for 9 yds to the LSU 34
- Joe Burrow pass complete to Clyde Edwards-Helaire for 11 yds to the LSU 48 for a 1ST down

2nd Quarter:
- Joe Burrow pass complete to Clyde Edwards-Helaire for 9 yds to the LSU 47
- Joe Burrow pass complete to Clyde Edwards-Helaire for 15 yds to the Geo 34 for a 1ST down

4th Quarter:
-Clyde Edwards-Helaire run for 20 yds to the Geo 34 for a 1ST down
