I remember thinking Peyton should have won but there were a few things going against him:
(1) Woodson played both ways and special teams so he was putting up all kinds of highlights and was a chance to have a defensive player win the heisman
(2) Michigan was in the title hunt
(3) Wuerffel won it the previous year, Wuerffel had also always beaten Tenn while Peyton never beat Florida which hurt him
