Charles Woodson is a legit NFL HOF'er. Like someone said, both were excellent players, but Woodson had his big Heisman moment (maybe among several of them) when he returned that punt for a TD against Ohio State in late November.

Meanwhile, Peytie Pie never beat Florida.

I thought the Heisman went to the right player.

7 picks returned for a total of 7 yards (none of which was returned for touchdowns), 231 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. Those numbers are not nearly impressive enough for a defensive player to win the Heisman.

The Big 10 bias was alive and well in 1997 if a punt return and Heisman pose against tOSU makes you the best player in CFB.

Eric Berry, Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu all had far more impressive seasons than Woodson in 97 and did not come close to winning the heisman

Totally Peyton’s fault VOLS gave up 62, 35, and 33 points to Florida from 95 to 97.

VOLS defense held Gators to 17 points in ‘98 and they finally won despite a pretty pedestrian performance by Tee Martin.

Yeah, if only Manning had a decent NFL career

Woodson was a great CB but him winning the Heisman was Big 10/East Coast media bias bullshite, IMO. It was a terrific year for Big Blue, though. They ended up sharing a NC they didn't deserve as well. Thank God for sportswriters.

The "best" player does not lose to his hated rival for his entire career. Burrow beat Alabama in their house when he got the chance.

Also, Peyton is not the GOAT in the NFL; Rice, Brady and Brees says hello.
