We just knew we were hiring Sampson during the basketball coach search. Kiffin played his part beautifully.

Because he didn't hire who you thought he should hire doesn't mean he missed.

The fact that it took 3 weeks to hire someone that would have came the next day says he surely missed.

Gauging interest of other coaches and interviews take time. Letting him coach in the SEC championship game could be more experience and one more feather in his cap.

Umm Yurachek obviously missed. I’ll get behind Pittman but there’s no reason to sugarcoat how we got to this point.

Not buying this at all. You don’t miss out on several weeks of recruiting to be a position coach. It’s much more likely that he was our 5th or 6th choice and wasn’t offered until the others said no.

We may never know who we targeted and how hard we went after them.
But I imagine HY went after Lane and we had a good chance to get him until the OM job came open. The truth is it's easier to win at OM right now. Long-term I think we have the better program than OM. But Lane has never really been about the long-term.
