Just remembered yurachek had to replace Tom Herman at Houston and ended up going with existing OC Major Applewhite after interviewing several candidates including Kiffin. I wonder if this makes him more or less likely to promote lunney and if it makes kiffin more or less likely to accept a contract from hunter since he got passed over.
Just saying, it wouldn't shock me to see kiffin to ole Miss over this and yurachek to go with someone already here like Lunney

He was pretty dismissive of this idea when asked after Lunney took over. I seriously doubt it. If Hunter's plan was Kiffin---> Lunney than he should be fired on spot.

I love Lunney but if he's the coach were fricked.
You've got to have a total and compete culture shock for these guys. Lunney has been through Bert and Chad, the 2 worst head coaches we've ever had.
I'd rather take my chances on Drinkwitz or Bill Clark.

There are worse, but is he what really need to turn around the program? He’s been on since Bert, and we haven’t exactly been blazing trails.

Two completely different situations.
Houston won 22 games in 2 years with Applewhite as the OC, and Herman was hired away to a better job. Most ADs in those situations, especially at G5 schools, end up promoting a qualified assistant from the previous staff for the sake of continuity.
We're not promoting a position coach from the staff of a HC who just got fired for winning 4 games in 2 years.
