Why? The numbers are already too high as it is.

66 players fill a 3-deep roster (of which many "3rd team" players won't play much if any at all...think about how often we've used the 3rd team linemen). Another 19 are allotted for developmental players.

Pushing it past 90 is just gluttony.

With the transfer portal now I don’t know how coaches can stay at 85 without handing out schollies to walk ons

This. Outside of shooty hoops, no other team can field an entire starting squad of full ride athletes. As one of the sports with 9.9 total scholarships, I feel no sympathy for a sport with 85.

Speaking of 85, are we even at 85? Thought we were 82-83 range, before transfers.
