I'm not necessarily blaming the cops. Lessons are best learned the hard way if you live through them. If that cop's head had busted on the pavement like a watermelon, he would be dead.

I doubt that cop decides to engage physically with a huge, unstable man next time. Cops carry less than lethal weapons for a reason. He should have used his in this scenario.

He did. You can see him using mace and Harris covering his face with his hoodie.

Now I'm not saying Harris was in the right by any means. Any time you put your hands on a cop in that fashion you deserve the prison time you are going to get. HOWEVER there is NO WAY that i can be the only one who thinks that it was ENTIRELY preventable had the cop not gotten up in his face and put his hands on his neck.

Again... I am NOT condoning the actions of Harris IN THE SLIGHTEST but this could have been easily prevented had the male officer acted professionally. There is no reason for him to step up on someone and get in their face like that and there certainly is not a reason in the world for that officer to place his hands around anyones neck... criminal or not. People who commit crimes are absolutely still people. They should be treated as such.

I fully respect police officers and appreciate the job they do with the danger they place on their lives daily for the sake of public safety, but cops are NOT immune to scrutiny.

This entire situation could have been avoided had he acted more professionally and not tried to be some badass by stepping up on Harris. And putting his hands around his neck is unacceptable in any sense.

They sprayed him with pepper spray but he blocked most of it with his hoodie and whatever did get on him had no effect.
