Nahhh, national guy. But then again Jeffy is no longer here to give them the scoop trying to enhance his reputation.

Nah, McMurphy is out of the loop now plus he's ruined his national rep after the Urban stuff, no Admin is going to feed him info.

It will be Forde or Pete Thamel, who broke the Schiano stuff last night. Yahoo guys seem to usually get fed the story first. I guess it's kind of a neutral party not affiliated with any sports network.

Local station where ever we hire the coach from. Arkansas media is always the last to find out.

copied and pasted from the other thread.

quote:

A week ago I was told Campbell had been contacted, but had told us no. Yesterday evening I was told that there was a strong push for Campbell later in the week by big donors, reportedly mainly by Jerry Jones (I got the Jerry Jones info from someone else highly respected in Hogville). Campbell was pretty firm last night that he was not interested, but was given until today to deny “the Brinks truck.” Seems like HY’s guy has been Kiffin for about 2-3 weeks. It is not expected that Lane will turn down the job. HY liked Kiffin and Campbell about the same, but was pretty well told no by Campbell a week and a half ago, so he already moved on. If worst case scenario happens, Fuente and Clark will be next in the batting order. I was told last Sunday that this Monday and Tuesday they will have their leading candidate visit. I assume that’s still the case, but like I said last week, I’m not sure how the championship game for FAU will effect that. I’ve heard several rumors on Hogville that the current coaches were told to stay away Monday and Tuesday. Can’t confirm, but not surprised. Heard Bob Stoops grumbles last week, but was 99% sure that was a smokescreen. Would be SHOCKED if he was actually in contact. Gus was never an option, even if he would’ve been fired today. Going to go have supper with family before they go back to California and Colorado. Will update around 10PM if I hear more info.

From hawgndodge thread

quote:

@JaxFryburger: Hearing that Lane Kiffin is the heavy favorite to coach Arkansas, where he would return to the SEC for a third stint, after being HC at Tennessee (2009) and OC at Alabama (2014-2016).

@JaxFryburger: Update:

- Source tells me Kiffin "had the inside track" on Arkansas job from start, likely to be announced as head coach in next couple days. #Arkansas #WPS

@JaxFryburger: Confident in my sources on Kiffin, think it's a done deal in Fayetteville. Now, we wait. #Arkansas #WPS LINK

And this from an FAU beat writer

@JackWhidden3: The last few days, I wasn’t worried about Arkansas.

Reflecting on the #CUSA Championship teleconference... I’m now very worried about Arkansas.

I can’t explain it, I just have a gut feeling.

I saw it from some Notre Dame writer first. He tweeted out Pittman had emerged as a leader and then a little while later the national guys broke it.
