Here are the latest updates on Arkansas' coaching search...
An unconfirmed source says Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell is high on Arkansas' list of potential candidates. This surfaced Saturday morning. Fickell is still on his original contract with Cincinnati, and he would owe the school 2.5 million if he left before Dec. 31. Fickell spent a year as the interim head coach at Ohio State in 2011 after the ouster of Jim Tressel and went 6-7. He spent the next six seasons at Ohio STate as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach before taking the head job at Cincinnati in 2017. He took over for Tommy Tuberville's 4-8 squad and matched the record his fist season. But in 2018, he guided the Bearcatts to an 11-2 finish and a top 25 ranking. Cincy is currently 9-1 and ranked No. 17 in the nation in the AP Top 25 Poll.
This may or may not mean anything, but Arkansas deputy AD Jon Fagg, who oversees football, has just started following Lane Kiffin on Twitter. Kiffin is also following him. It may mean nothing, but it doesn't deserve an oversight.
According to a report from Football Scoop, Norvell has already met with Arkansas but has his eye on the Florida State job, as well. The same Football Scoop article that reported on Mike Norvell having met with Arkansas already also says a 'reunion' with Arkansas and Gus Malzahn is unlikely. In addition, the Auburn AD issued a statement on Friday to offer a vote of confidence in Malzahn and his coaching staff.

I can’t imagine why Fickell would be remotely interested in our job. I can’t believe that’s a two way interest when he’s going to be at the top of the list for any Big 10 opening over the next several years.

You know who Jon Fagg didn’t follow on Twitter? Luke Fickell. You know who he did follow.

I can't believe he's on the radar. He's only been a HC for 4 years.
We can't go down that road.

Norvell has only been an HC for four years. It's not the amount of experience, I think it's more the area and context. I'm not sure he's ever coached out of the state of Ohio, and his year as Ohio State's interim was basically a disaster for them.

Don't support Norvell either. What has he built?

I'm still holding out hope for this guy. Remember when Musselman was hired the media reported on it early and then his name disappeared from the search until it was announced.
I'm hoping the same happens here and it's Campbell they're really after. Should be, IMO.

I think Kansas is a bit of a wild card this season. Lightning in a bottle, for their normal standards. They have a lot of emotion and momentum. Dangerous team.
