This hasn't been discussed before.
We'll see how they rank them tonight; but the biggest story is what happens after Championship Saturday with the Pac 12 teams and OU having a chance to make an impression while Alabama is sitting back home.
Baring both of these conferences having a 2 L champ I think they are out, but we'll see.

It's going to take some Mayhem for us to get in. Possible, but probably unlikely.

People bring up 2014 Ohio State but Bama doesn't have a top 15 team in a conference title game to go along with a top 10 win already on their resume.

Nobody is bringing up 2014 Ohio State.
The comp would be 2016 Ohio State or 2017 Alabama. Also very different years than this one, but still a much better comparison than 2014 Ohio State.

Bama is a lot thinner on D than previous teams. Attrition and injuries have taken a toll.
The concept of "Eye Test" is very ambiguous but their case was how good that O can be with Tua at full go. Unfortunately that is off the table now.
I'm not saying Alabama is not a legit Top 10 team or their program is in shambles but this year this is not a monster like 2011 that had no major weaknesses.

Alabama's best shot is if the other possible team is Oregon, and if Alabama wins very convincingly at Auburn. A common opponent is a very strong data point, and Alabama would own that convincingly.
If a one-loss Oklahoma is in the mix, however, Alabama probably has no shot.

We're just worrying about Auburn. The rest is unlikely and completely out of our hands.

2015 Iowa imho.
Ended the year at 12-2.
Had some bad luck - but was never really good enough to actually win the title. Solid team, just didn’t have the horses to compete with the big boys.

I know you're trying to troll, but this isn't even insulting. You're losing your touch.

Yes. I mean the easiest path
Assuming
LSU wins out
OSU wins out
then one of the following
Clemson loses
OU lose to OSU or Baylor in a rematch.
Arizona or Utah lose in the next two weeks and the team that loses wins the PAC12.
If that happens Bama is in.

Yeah people on message boards need to be focused on the next game (guess youre just skipping Western Carolina, coach is gonna make you run laps)

I compared you to a team that started 12-0 and finished in the Top 10. Not exactly a troll or an insult...

You don't need to do anything. I also know that your scenario could happen and we could still not get in.
I choose to just care about the Auburn game and going 11-1 and then seeing what they say. I'm much more interested in seeing what the remnants of our team actually looks like before talking about the playoffs.

The only time I see that brought up is about having a backup QB.
