i sincerely think SEC fans exxagerate the toughness of their schedule every season. it's a crutch.

You brought up the fact that Clemson beat Auburn in 2017 (when Auburn beat Bama to win the SECw).

During that season:
- Auburn beat Alabama by 8 points.
- Clemson beat Auburn by 8 points.
- Auburn beat Georgia once (by 23 points in the regular season) and lost to Georgia once (by 21 points in the SECCG).
- Georgia went to the national championship and lost to Alabama by 3 points in overtime.
- Alabama beat Clemson by 18 points in the semifinals.

Based on the outcomes I think it’s safe to say that all four of these teams were really good, and that they would have all been expected to compete with each other on any given Saturday.

Knowing that, let’s say you could pick any three teams in the ACC and replace them with Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn. Would the 2017 Clemson team have been more or less likely to make the playoff?
