Yea, and we were "turning back into Alabama again" after the Clemson game too. Instead we average the most penalties I can remember an Alabama team averaging since the Shula era.

We're a good team. We're not a great team. It is what it is.

We're in a weird spot. We're a great offensive collection of talent. I don't think our scheme has been particularly impressive so much as the talent has just overwhelmed defenses we've played.

We are a so-so team on D. I don't know why that is. Could be the amount of youth starting for us. Could be the injuries. Could be the scheme. Could be some guys just haven't elevated their game like we'd thought/hoped they would (R. Davis, etc.). Likely it's all of those things.

2020 season is going to be a growing pain season, IMO. Possibly like 2010, but for different reasons.

Coaching turnover combined with poor replacement hires and a frick ton of recruiting misses on the defensive front 7 have finally caught up with us. Hopefully all the young guys playing so much this year will benefit us in the future, but on the flip side of that none of those young guys really played better than you'd expect a freshman to play. They played OK, for freshmen, when in the past we've had young guys just play well in general.

Yep, I think this was evident before this loss and I don't think much differently of this team after the loss. Played a very tight and poor first half, especially on offense.

Team can be great if they play up to that level - aka find a running game and a pass rush - but still see growing pains.

Defense is young and I thought played well overall considering their limitations and how much they were on the field in the 1st half. Offense also put them on two short fields and didn't gain any first downs.

Moses would have been a big help in coverage and allowing us to be more multiple on defense.

Overall, just hope Bama takes it out on Auburn in the iron bowl and finishes the season strong. Think the defensive toughness will come as the freshman get older and turn into leaders. Offense needs to improve on the line of scrimmage and whole team needs to get more disciplined and get less penalties moving forward.

This. We have a great passing offense, but otherwise we are just good. And I would even argue below average on defense.
