The only thing wrong about the BCS was just having #1 vs. #2. A four team BCS playoff would have been just fine.

I'm not so sure, the BCS was 2/3rds polls, I think we have seen the committee is better than the polls are at gauging teams. Perhaps if the sportswriters and especially the coaches had the time and resources that are provided to the committee they could do as good or better job, (i think the committee is way too susceptible to group think and disproportionate influence from it's school affiliated members)

but the AP and coaches polls have no guidelines and no accountability.

as per example, Nick Saban voted Ok ST Fourth in the final coaches poll of 2011, he was the only SEC coach with a ballot to do so. By itself this wasn't margin between ok st and Alabama getting into the title game, but the BCS margin between the two schools was extremely close, the fact that someone with such an obvious conflict of interest would have the ability to directly effect the outcome is not ok.

I did like how the BCS incorporated multiple independent rankings. I think the current system would be improved, perhaps if the committee rankings were weighted against the BCS computers. 2/3 1/3 at least.
