Like Stevens makes a difference. Like Strader was even on the radar to play to play this yr. when Moosehead seemed to believe that Stevens was qb from heaven.
Not sure what I would do as a coach at this point other than keep Strader at QB. Secondly, I would hand over the offensive play calling to an OC and become a head coach rather than the head assistant.
Secondly, the offensive line is a big part of the problem as the protection given the qb is lacking.
I don't see Moosehead on the sidelines as a protector of the team, little emotion, no arguing with the ref's etc. A team needs to see the head fights for them. In the game today, A&M, on the call of the interception when our player caught the ball on the ground and ruled as an interception the coach should have gone ballistic, but he showed zero emotion.
And on a different subject. Today, after the TD with a minute left he goes for two points, last game at the end he goes for a field goal, and the game before another game ending two point attempt. Is that when he starts thinking and coaching? When the game is in the books? I don't get it.
He's a assistant coach, no better. Head coach, been there, done that, hasn't he!
Mullen? take him back in a New York second. At least he showed emotion on the sidelines, not some stoic statue handing his little card of plays to call.

Plenty of HCs call the play themselves including some pros. That isn't the issue. Maybe minimal but HC calling playsbis no differu than an OC. Dan called the plays 90 percent of the time and still does.

Effort is a big issue but at the same time there are no leaders on this team. Cepr dantzler who was out and Willie who was out and Schrader who is a true freshman. With Mullen keytoan would be playing and likely banged up and he was about as passive of a QB being a leader I've ever seen. We are in a tough spot. I don't think you fire him until after this year. Like I said halfway I'm fine cause we signed next year's class

quote:Go back and look at the tape of Mullen's last game against Ole Miss. The only emotion was Mullen and Grantham laughing together on the sideline every time we turned the ball over or got penalized for a late hit.

I don't begrudge Mullen leaving and taking a better job. But that prick quit actually coaching once his agent had an agreement set with UF - but he was getting paid by State.
