Bama recruits itself,

I don’t recall Bama being nearly this good of a recruiting school prior to Saban. I know Bama was bad and had sanctions but even in the early 90s a lot of those great players were just really well coached. Miami and Florida State type schools were where recruits went.

Bama before Mike Dubose hit on a little more than half of the in state blue chip talent while getting the rest from the southeastern region especially Mississippi. We can still win with that blueprint but it's much easier when you can recruit the other 48 states.

That's b/c Bama's facilities were middle-tier in 1990s. Alot of malfeasance set in after Bryant retired: Gotta have a "Bear" man as hc, players will come b/c of tradishun, etc. that sort of nonsense while programs like UT, UF, and LSU upped their game and caught up.

I said my piece on Dabo, I can just thank God he's a pipe dream at this point. I would hate for him to get Bama in ncaa trouble. I remember Bama hiring the DL coach from Bama and for some mysterious reason he couldn't replicate the same results at Bama that he had at Clemson.
