CBS was correct in picking that game. It the current most watched game so far this year. LSU/Texas is #2. LSU/Bama in primetime will likely still struggle to beat ND/UGA. No team has a global brand like ND.

Wrong.

ETA: Most watched games of the past 25 years

LSU Alabama in 2011 scored 20 million viewers.

Georgia Notre Dame this year didn't even outrank some of the non GOTC LSU Alabama games the past 10 years.

ETA2: SEC on CBS stats

quote:

Compared to last year’s primetime SEC game on CBS, Alabama-LSU in week ten, overnights fell 7% from a 6.7. The 6.2 ranks sixth out of the past nine primetime SEC games on CBS (dating back to 2011). Each of the other eight pit LSU against Alabama.

Very few games have outdone the LSU/Bama game each year. Even though LSu has had terrible showings every year it always brings a huge audience. I think everyone just watches and hopes to see Bama lose...

I'm aware. There is just some SEC/Bama/LSU fatigue plus you'll have a large chunk of the Midwest and Ohio Valley watching Iowa/Wisconsin at the same time.

In 2011 the other game on that night at the same time was Aggy/OU that no one outside of those states gave a shite about.

eta: I'm probably wrong about LSU/Bama this year. It's going to by hyped out of the freaking stratosphere. I still don't think it'll hit that 20 million viewer mark like 2011 but it'll be up there.
