Did CBS trade UF-LSU & Auburn-LSU for Alabama-LSU Primetime spot?

If so when would it be confirmed or denied?

That's the leading speculation. UF-LSU anyway. I don't see them giving up the second game unless CBS is happy putting Bama-Arkansas on at 2:30.

I would imagine that if its legit, it would be dependent on LSU winning against UF... If that happens, then they would probably release the details and confirm that next Monday when they release the 10/26 SEC schedule.

finebaum seemed skeptical this morning. apparently cbs had to give up a ton in 2011 to make it happen. didn't think they would be interested in having to do that again.

CBS giving up a top 7 match up this weekend is bizarre. Either it's happening or CBS is getting played. I lean toward the former.

Fowler and Herbstreit get to call a top 10 regular season prime time SEC game this weekend. That has to be worth something.
I believe CBS aired a doubleheader in 2011. CBS didn’t simply swap the afternoon game for a prime time kickoff. They had to cash in a lot of chips to keep the afternoon game, AND add a prime time game.
I’m assuming they would only air one game on 11/09/19.

Do you think it would be a 1 for 1 (as in UF LSU) or potentially Auburn - LSU packaged as well

Or espn gets a first pick once or twice a season.

If they were to trade away Auburn-LSU they wouldn't have jack-shite to put at 230
Bama-Arkansas?
A&M-MSU?
Missouri Kentucky?
The price may be too steep
With that being said, Florida-LSU is the better game this weekend so CBS has something cooking

The most likely explanation is that espn got first pick this weekend due to it being in their contract.

How often is that the case though? The only time I remember CBS not getting the first pick is when they made some deals for the 2011 game. If it was so I feel like there would be some reporting on it.

I don't have a clue but I do remember in 2002 ESPN used whatever power it is they have in their contract to select UGA/UF and aired it at night. All parties agreed that was the last time that would happen.

I think it happens once every year.

does it have to be done in the summer? Or when does the timing need to happen?
What I'm getting at is, it seems like if they had 1 trump card every year to play when they wanted, it seems like at some point over the last ~10+ years they would have taken bama/lsu instead of CBS having it every year.

They can't unless they want to give up the Iron Bowl (Alabama will be maxed out by then) which they almost never do.

There's absolutely 0 way CBS gave this game up for any other reason than as a part of a deal to get LSU bama in primetime.

I imagine cbs has a few protected games, and espn gets a pick from the best of the rest of them.

similar topic...
If everyone at the SEC is fed up w/ 11am games ( I think we all are), can we just tell ESPN we just don't want that shite anymore as a group?

I would think you're contractually obligated to play when you're told. Worst case scenario is the networks might jsut say "fine you aren't on TV". I have no idea.
Honestly though, not everyone is fed up with noon games. Kirby has gone on record as sayign he likes them, and personally I do too. Dont' have to sit around anxious all day for kickoff, get it done early adn get home by dinner tiem and still have all night to watch football. I wouldn't want all of them to be at noon but I think they have their place.
