That's part of the joke. Not only does everyone think auburn is in Georgia but, all auburn fans hate the state of Alabama and wish they lived in Georgia.

Auburn fans just hate the gump faction of your fanbase. The holier than thou ones who never went to bama and the smug ones who did.
ETA that is not just confined to the Auburn fanbase either.
