You are correct, sir. Glad to see there are some posters around here who know what it was like back then and how some things operated. Very different from today. Thanks real_gator8.

gator8 is a good egg

Proximity was a big deal back then, that and ease of access on major roads and railways (this is why LSU and Ole Miss rarely played their annual game in Oxford)

Bama did always schedule an extra SEC game, was it for ompetitive advantage or just because it made more sense on the travel budget? Probably a little of both

It's why UGA frequently played Clemson and USCe

It's why UF vs AU was always played

Same for ama vs MS State

So, it is weird that we did not play the Vols much

WTF are you talking about?

It's exactly what happened.

The Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide met annually on the gridiron for 22 straight seasons between the mid-1940s and the mid-1960s, but the fallout from the Post story caused such meetings to become much more rare.

I also saw a direct quote from Dooley that pretty much said the same.Im looking for it now

dude, we are saying the same thing

Fallout over that incident is why UGA quit playing Bama every year

That is what I said, that was the whole point of my post

What are we arguing about? Your post actually affirms my statement

My whole point was that was why that game was cancelled as an annual deal

How that turned into a pissing contest or some moron on his mom's computer in the basement calling me a liar is beyond me...

Before 1992 expansion the only teams LSU mostly played against was Florida Kentucky Georgia ole miss Mississippi State and Alabama ... they let schools play who ever they want
