The lack of elite programs or even good programs is hurting the sport.

There's a BIG drop off after the top 5'ish, you see all these teams ranked in the teens that re supposed to be still pretty good and none of them really are.

I mean the entire PAC12 is a graveyard. The ACC outside of Clemson might as well be FCS.

The majority of the reason for that is recruiting. Just look at where all the blue chippers are going right now. Same 5 or 6 teams.

I think I saw a stat a few weeks back where Georgia had like 24, 5* players. Auburn has not had that many 5* guys in 20 years.

But its early in the season and shite is about to start to happen. Hang on for another couple of weeks. It will get better

Many things have hurt CFB recently, but I’ll select a few:

PLAYOFF - this added greater emphasis to be THE champ. Gone are the days where you will argue who was best after the season. This obsession to crown 1 champion has devalued many other great things about the sport, namely bowls, regional flavor, conference pageantry, etc.

CONF EXPANSION - too many teams have watered conferences down and killed rivalries. It’s a crime LSU won’t play Georgia more often. Instead we have manufactured trophy games that nobody gives a shite about.

FACILITIES RACE - stadiums have constantly expanded. This results in more empty seats, price disparities for good seats, and a more stake environment. Smaller stadiums would keep tickets in demand and create the rowdy atmospheres of year’s past.

Too many programs and not enough talent to go around. Back when there were only 30 or so real programs that recruits wanted to play for, the competition was better and more good games. Now there are too many teams that really don't deserve to be D1 and too many big schools scheduling garbage schools. That and the NCAA now being a complete joke at regulating cheating makes the sport less interesting as a whole.

They need to cut back on D1 schools and the talent will head to just those schools and force them to play each other and not weaker divisions schools. Then go back to enforcing the NCAA rules without letting certain schools cheat at will and taint the game.

Also get rid of the "You can't hit players too hard" rules.

Basically do a hard reset on everything back to atleast the 90's when everyone was decent and could lose on a given week and all the games were fun.
