There was very little blitzing that I noticed yesterday and we struggled greatly to get a pass rush going with the DL.

This is very concerning to me based on how badly the Clemson game was called.

I'm not a Golding fan at this point.

Straight from Saban himself:

quote:

“There was a lot of adjusting to do. The young players had a lot of problems adjusting to the quads and to the empty formation in the boundary, which we had worked on, but it was a lot for the linebackers. So, we had to stay pretty simple in terms of what we were doing, afraid that we would not do things correctly. So, when the field shrunk, we were able to get them stopped, and I think the players showed a lot of resiliency in doing that.”

When this is going on, you can't blitz.

Golding was a heavy blitzer at his previous stop. Saban probably put a quash on blitzing. As he said, "that's how you get 75 yard plays against you."
