If the school is taking such advantage of these national treasures, how about we take them out of the equation and let the NFL create a minor league football program? Take the school/NCAA out of it all together.

I am sure tons of people would pay those same millions to try that...it would be like the XFL. Oh.....

I think the athletes need the schools and the institution and traditions they have created more than the schools need the flavor of the month in high school recruits who most do nothing to increase the academic pedigree of the university.

NFL is corporate welfare. Some of the richest folks in the USA yet they put the taxpayers on the dole to pay for their stadiums. They will not create a minor league as they are too cheap to pay for it out of their own pocket.

Not every athlete is an jock without a plan. While most want to get to the League, most understand they need a fall back plan by earning a degree.

Go to the 'farm league' and not receive an education...then what?

Now you're X years removed from high school, with no money saved, and back in the same boat of needing an education to help create a career. So now you get to, most likely, create debt for yourself trying to get back on par to create a foundation for yourself.

Absolutely, the schools put the players on the map because of their prestige and tradition...but it also can work to a players advantage down the road.
