Well, yeah.

But he’s a young player in his first start in a huge game. Behind a turnstile offensive line. He’s not going to be Johnny Manziel, so there’s room for growth.

Personally, I think his comments were a shitty way to handle the situation. You want to rip his arse in-house? Have at it. But it certainly makes me wonder if he’s punishing him publicly because he sought to transfer out until he was convinced to stay.

It’s difficult to find open receivers when you are laying in your back or running for your life. I agree that at times he did not keep his eyes downfield, but that’s how the majority of freshmen will react to extreme pressure. The guy was sacked 10 fricking times. Probably had another 5-7 hurries with contact. Where is the criticism of the left tackle for getting beat every play? Also, Dan should have moved a RB to the left side of the QB or have a TE on the left side so they could chip the end. He didn’t do it once all game. I fault Dan a lot more than a freshman QB. His play calls on the first drive were excellent bc they negated the Florida rush. As the game progressed, the rest of the plays involved long routes that required 3 -4 solid seconds of pass blocking. He didn’t put his offense in a position to succeed. As that he took it out on the kid in public.
