Serious question.

I've always admired David Cutcliffe. I'm sure Ole Miss fans can tell you that the biggest mistake their program ever made was getting rid of him. Is anyone concerned that the Alabama players may be looking ahead to Clemson and Duke might sneak up on them in week 1?

I don't know about this one, guys. Hope Sabans has his guys dialed in.

Who, Duke? They're a hell of a lot better than they used to be.

Yeah... if they get overconfident, they may give up 200 total yards and only win by 35, and Saban will break someone’s neck on Monday in practice.

Holy hell no! Otis was a terrible coach at Ole Miss and pissed away some of the best talent that we've ever assembled. He is Matt Luke part 1.

Well I've heard it said by people who's opinions I respect that Ole Miss really screwed the land-shark by firing Cutcliffe.

If you think Alabama is worried about Duke then by extension you should be worried about all your non-con games.

We got Portland State in week 1. Duke =/= Portland State. Duke >>> Portland State.

But I take your point. All I'm saying is I think this game will be closer than the experts think. Alabama is breaking in SEVEN new coaches this season. Sure, they do that every year, but the possibility is always there that they come out and shite the bed. If they do, Duke is good enough to beat them.

Alabama will keep it fairly vanilla, work on certain aspects of the game they want to see in live action, and rotate a lot of players in and out to see how they perform. Is Saban worried about Duke? A good coach always respects his opponent and there are multiple unknowns in week 1. But as Saban likes to say, "Control what you can control, and play to a standard." Not to the level of your opponent. So if Alabama plays to the standard it is capable of, Duke will get obliterated. Personally, I think Saban will hold them down some with the vanilla game plan just so he can bitch Monday about how piss poor they looked and how much they have to work on.

Good post. It just seems to me that this game isn't getting much hype. It's the type of game I would expect to be a shocker. And I'm not trying to troll here. I know that no coach wants their players to read their own press clippings, but you also don't want people sleep walking into a game like this.

Duke is a very respectable opponent.

I do too. I think Boar Ed and myself should place loser leave bets here on Duke vs Bama. He's so confident in the Dookies.

What about anything I said leads you to believe I'm "confident" on Duke? Can you even frickin read? Is someone else typing your posts for you right now?
