You guys like numbers right? So calculate the talent level on average of a Miss State team under Mullen (you can even do his best team in 2014) to the talent Kirby has.

Context provided by your fellow poster in this thread literally was “Dan Mullen has never had his team in a big game in over a decade of being a head coach.”

Mullen for the most part has worked at a severe talent disadvantage compared to Kirby, and to Kirby’s credit, he’s a much better recruiter - anyone disputing otherwise is an idiot.

All I’m saying it’s apples to oranges - two completely different situations.

And that's fine... That response was originally to someone who likes to ignore all context in order to try and make a point... one that was weak to begin with. It's not like Kirby has some atrocious record against teams that finish ranked... he's .500 over 3 seasons.

Mullen isn't remotely *close* to .500 over 10... He did manage .500 in year 1 at UF... in his TENTH season as a head coach.

So comparing Smart as a 1st year HC to Mullen as a 10th year HC seems pretty damn apples to oranges, no?

UF Fans are quick to dismiss Mullen's 9 year track record and inability to dramatically improve the roster at Miss St as a recruiter as problematic to Miss St... I'll be interested to see if that perspective changes over the next couple of recruiting cycles at all if he doesn't 1) land better classes and 2) manage to get all of the signees onto campus...

You literally just said in a conversation with djs, that you don't put stock into ratings for recruits.

I don't put much on stars as most people do.

People forget Spurrier didn't exactly recruit at UF like UGA is recruiting with Kirby.

And

I've seen many 4 and 5 stars flame out and become busts at UF. I don't know what else to say

A star is a paper statistic.

So, how do we compare talent levels if not by stars? And if stars are not indicative of a players talent, then Mullen should have had killer teams getting all of the hidden gems that were woefully undervalued.

You seem to be arguing against yourself now. Talent level average only matters sometimes?
