You can not compare the talent Mullen had to work with at State vs what Kirby has at UGA.

Miss State is a program that’s historically never done anything.

In his first year at UF, Mullen went 2-2.

Ok.. you can ignore context but I can't. Seems appropriate.

In his first year at UF, he was in his 10th season as a head coach... seems completely reasonable to compare to a first year HC. And even still, Smart went 1-2 against teams finishing ranked in the regular season (Just like Mullen), and won his bowl game... he just wasn't lucky enough to get paired up with a team that finished ranked but had a defense that gave up 62 points in the previous game... We can't all be so lucky.

By all accounts of your posters, so is UGA... it's 1980 and then a whole dismal program history of nothing else.

You guys like numbers right? So calculate the talent level on average of a Miss State team under Mullen (you can even do his best team in 2014) to the talent Kirby has.

Context provided by your fellow poster in this thread literally was “Dan Mullen has never had his team in a big game in over a decade of being a head coach.”

Mullen for the most part has worked at a severe talent disadvantage compared to Kirby, and to Kirby’s credit, he’s a much better recruiter - anyone disputing otherwise is an idiot.

All I’m saying it’s apples to oranges - two completely different situations.
