to produce an SEC Football Champion to avoid four completed decades of only the BIG 6 claiming Titles.
SEC FOOTBALL TITLES BY DECADE:
1980s: Auburn (4), Georgia (3), LSU (2), Alabama (2), Tennessee (2)
1990s: Florida (5), Tennessee (3), Alabama (2)
2000s: Florida (3), LSU (3), Georgia (2), Tennessee (2)
2010s: Alabama (5), Auburn (2), Georgia (1), LSU (1)
TOTAL SINCE THE 1980s:
10- Alabama
8- Florida
7- Auburn
6- Georgia
6- LSU
5- Tennessee
That's a total of 42 awarded SEC Football Trophies during a 39-year period, and not one of the Little 8 has one to claim.
Why were there 13 SEC titles given out in the 80's?

I mean, we are talking about Alabama. You know, the school that can make a dozen out of six. Right?
The phrase, “six, one; half dozen, the other“
Was coined in a Mississippi dentist office in 1956.
The phrase, “ six today, a dozen tomorrow. “ was invented in Tuscaloosa around 1983.

My guess? Because Alabama didn't deserve any but they claimed them anyways.

Before the establishment of an SEC Championship Game, if multiple teams had the same in-conference record, they all shared the crown. In 1981, Alabama shared the crown with Georgia. And in 1989, Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee all won a share of the SEC.
