You are being too kind. All I can say is that I hope Kirby learned something from that game. LSU was tougher, and knew that Fromm could be rattled. O did a good job of coaching that day.

And Kirby/ Chaney did not. 1st drive we didn't throw the ball. Moved down the field. Then went run & shoot air-raid the remainder of the game...well after it was clear Fromm couldn't throw the ball threw an open garage door that day.

Yep, this was a crap the bed game for both, but especially Chaney.

I do wonder how much of that was Fromm checking at the line of scrimmage. I have no doubt that LSU was giving Fromm a lot of looks that would normally mean he checks out of a run and into a pass. The problem was he couldn’t pass that day.

Fromm has a lot of responsibility for ultimate play selection at the LOS. Possible that his pre-snap reads backfired that day.

Technically, we didn't abandon the run until midway in the 4th quarter when we were facing the clock (the fumble 5 minutes in the 4th quarter by Hardman on the kickoff killed our ability to stay on the ground).

Fans make too big a deal of the percentage for playcalling in that game. We were business as usual for 3.5 quarters.

What fans want but arent saying is that we should have abandoned the pass game. It wasnt working. So instead of the normal 62/38 run/pass split, they wanted 75/25. Or more.

Of course we abandoned the run with about 7 minutes to go and down by 3 scores. That is what good coaching does. It led to a 5 play 1:20 minute drive for a TD. Unfortunately on the second try and still down by 3 scores, Fromm throws the INT.
