Tua was punished because we had to play a deathmatch with UGA in a de-facto playoff game the weekend before the voting. While Murray was able to play against another Big 12 defense.
If Mac keeps this up the rest of the year and puts up similar numbers against UGA again in December, he will deserve it over Lawrence....who gets the benefit of playing in a shite league.

It's evolved into primarily an award for a QB who's on a really good team, based mainly on stats, media hype influence and follow-the-herd voting. The awarded QB is highly successful in large part due to his teammates' performance, but he gets all of the "Hypesman" Trophy credit. So I view it as actually being somewhat of a team-earned award.
