Really, a couple surprises...
quote:

Tennessee - 1938
quote:

3. Tennessee - 20
Tennessee got started kinda late, and has been shut out for almost 2 decades. Yet for the longest time, they were the consensus 2nd best team in the conference... remember they got the overall series with Alabama very close before the wheels fell off.

Florida - 1991
quote:

4. LSU, Florida - 15
Florida basically did nothing until Spurrier got there, then erupted.
quote:

Arkansas - 1964
That's a shocker... I thought they had more history than that. I remember them being a legit power in the SWC.

Scoob….You're right....by 1960, Tennessee & Alabama were tied with 6 10+ win seasons, Georgia and Ole Miss were third with 3 each. LSU had 2.

Florida's 15 seasons were all after Spurrier arrived with no more than 9 wins in a season in their history until 1991.

Some would say that Arkansas football began with Frank Broyles, but I suspect the difficulty travelling to, and from, Fayetteville before I-49 also played a part.
