So does Naz Reid.
And Ole Miss’ Terence Davis.
He’s likely going to take a circuitous route to the NBA if he can make it. No point in anyone taking him as a UDFA when he can’t play is there?

Nope. I bet he rehabs in Denver or Columbia, then will have an invite only workout next spring to try catching on somewhere.

There's a chance a team might sign him as a free agent just to have his rights when he get's healthy.
I saw some video of his before he was hurt the first time and I was impressed with how well his inside game had gotten. He looked like a different player.

That’s possible, but spots are limited. So a team would have to be really confident that he will be healthy and impactful to take him.
There’s only 15 roster positions per team. With an additional 2 players that can be on 2 way contracts.

It truly is sad that injuries have placed such a cloud over both Porters. I hope for the best in their careers and lives. As a fan I still cannot avoid the same letdown comparison to the deflating loss that was the TVZ injury with MPJ being the direct comparison. Tony re-took the field but was never right again. I wish the Porters' better. Thanks for coming to COMO.

Pop Porter is being considered for the Lindenwood College head coach position. If I was him I would say to them " Show me the money"

He probably needs a job.
And perhaps a place for Coban to play.

Not surprised with 2 ACL tears in less than 2 years

I'll be the first to admit it. The current state of basketball confuses me. Let's assume that Jontay thinks he has NBA talent. Is going and playing in some minor league system or overseas a better path for him than if he had stayed in school? I think they only make $35k or so (granted, in about 6 months). I'd venture a guess that if you added up everything a player gets at Mizzou, it's actually as much or more. Just trying to understand his decision.

It doesn't make sense. I assume he really believed he was going to get drafted, especially after Michael did while being injured. Or his dad really thought he would. Dad definitely seems like a show me the money kind of guy. Or maybe he was a bad student.

I'm sure he believed (as I did) all that was written and said that he's be no lower than a second-round pick. Since he lost that roll of the dice, he can go minor league or overseas and hope he does well enough to eventually crack the NBA.
Either that, or McDonalds on the business loop is hiring.

Before the second ACL injury he was definitely going to get drafted. The second injury scared teams away. But if he actually follows the rehab correctly he will get either a G League or 2 way contract by this time next year. A year after that he can be in the NBA full time.

Or he could have done it here and had a degree

He can always come back to work on the degree. If he recovers he will have a lengthy career playing basketball

I hope I am dead wrong but I'll predict he never plays any meaningful time in the NBA. Other, younger, just as talented players will continue to filter into the league making it harder for him.

Could be, though Jontay’s shooting is a perfect fit for how the NBA wants its bigs to play now. That’s why the more physically gifted player in Tilmon is still more of a long shot to make it than Jontay.

Jontay’s game has never been about athleticism really. As long as he isn’t completely compromised I still think he can play a long time in the NBA
He just has such a great feel for the game. If both are healthy I’m definitely taking him over his brother. He’s a better basketball player
