Say what? If you're talking BCS and College Football playoff then you mean '98. You didn't specify, and anything prior to '98 was the same as it was in '64, when we won a NC in football.

It absolutely was not the same. The Bowl Coalition and Bowl Alliance between 1992-1997 sought to force a national title game between the top ranked teams. Only the Rose Bowl held out. It was the precursor to the BCS.

Real college football National Championship games started in 92 with the Bowl Coalition. Not surprised you don't know your history though given your first post
